SSL SiX CH (SiX Channel Strip)
The SSL SiX Channel is a single-width 500-series mini channel strip that utilizes the SuperAnalogue channel processing features from the SSL SiX console, including a microphone preamp, low- and high-frequency equalizers, and a single-knob compressor. The SiX channel is a simple way to add additional "Mic/Line" inputs to the line inputs of any professional audio device, including the stereo channels of the SiX console. It’s also a flexible way to create a professional modular mixer using a 500-series „summing” rack.
SuperAnalogue preamp input:
Wide gain range, very low noise. The SuperAnalogue design features both „Line” and “Mic” gain range switches to accommodate a wide range of source levels. The nominal input impedance of the line input is 10 kΩ. This can be changed to 1 MΩ using the Hi-Z switch. The 1 MΩ impedance makes this input suitable for very high-impedance sources, such as passive guitar pickups, without the need for an external DI box.
Other features:
- Switchable 12 dB/octave, 75 Hz high-pass filter (HPF)
- The polarity switch (ø) reverses the polarity of the rear XLR input on the Mic Amp rack.
- The five-segment LED meter displays the output signal level in dBu
EQ:
The equalizer is a wide-range, two-band design with high- and low-pass shelf filters at 3.5 kHz and 60 Hz, adjustable from +15 dB to -15 dB of gain. Each band can be independently switched between shelf and "Bell" curves. The settings adjust the center frequency to operate at 5 kHz and 200 Hz, providing greater versatility with just two controls.
COMPRESSOR:
A versatile single-knob compressor with features that deliver powerful and versatile performance through simple controls. A meter with three LEDs indicating the amount of gain reduction applied. The circuit features automatic gain recovery to maintain the signal level across the full range of threshold settings.
- Microphone preamp featuring SuperAnalogue technology with 48V phantom power, polarity control, and an HPF filter
- The front panel features a TRS Line Input / 1MΩ Hi-Z switch.
- Switchable 2-band EQ
- A single-knob compressor with a switchable, variable threshold.
