Solid State Logic BIG SIX
Solid State Logic BIG SIX

A high-end analog mixer with full channel stip on microphone channels, SuperAnalogue technology, 16 channel AD/DA converter, USB interface and G-Bus Compressor, which is a full-fledged heart of the recording studio.
When SSL unveiled its first SIX compact mixer 2 years ago, its success was already hanging in the air, but I don't think anyone expected the sales records that followed 2 years later. In addition, a huge amount of positive feedback from producers and customer inquiries for a larger, more developed model led SSL to present a refreshed console, this time aimed primarily at recording studios - the BiG SiX. BIG - because it has significantly more capabilities, and SIX, because it is still a continuation of its smaller brother -. SSL SIX.
The BIG SIX is a fully professional studio console, combining the best practices and heritage of SSL's large format tables with full USB integrity, balanced inputs and outputs, channel and stereo bus dynamics processors, and flexible signal routing. All of this has been put in place to provide even more quality, capabilities and ease of use for implementers.
SuperAnalogue technology applied to the 4 microphone channels and 4 stereo channels provides the clean, unesterified sound, with plenty of punch, known from the SSL 9000 series. Combined with a 16-channel AD/DA converter and USB interface, it gives you a tool complete for recording and mixing. The real icing on the cake is the basic version of SSL's G-Comp Bus Compressor, this time with an additional "Auto release" setting, the famous Listen Mic Compressor, a dynamics and 3-band EQ section for individual channels based on the legendary SSL 4000E chip, as well as developed monitoring and analog summing capabilities for up to 18 tracks during a rip. All in all - the BIG SIX is practically a self-sufficient recording studio in a nutshell from SolidStateLogic.
USB interface:
The BiG SiX includes a class-A compliant 96 Khz / 24-bit USB interface for connecting to a PC or MAC. The interface is paired with 16 high-quality A/D and D/A converters that are connected to the SuperAnalogueTM signal path of the BiG SiX. The first 12 channels are split into the first 12 inputs/outputs and can be switched before/after the attenuator. USB channels 13-16 lead to/from external inputs and master buses. Alternatively, dispatches 9/10 and 11/12 can be fed from stereo cue buses. Ideal for additional ITB processing.
Preamplifiers:
Fast, detailed and very, very powerful. The SuperAnalogueTM BiG SiX preamps are capable of handling a wide range of microphones (including ribbon microphones) with confidence, thanks to their very large gain range. They feature a dedicated line input with Hi-Z, 48V, high-pass filter and polarity switch, and will bring out the absolute best from your new and vintage instruments and line sources.

Compressor on the signal path:
Smooth, enhance and add character to your recordings with classic SSL channel compression. A program-dependent Attack Time (8ms - 30ms), a Release Time of about 300ms and a gentle Ratio of 2:1 allow the compressor to work with any audio material and is one of three types of compression that BiG Six offers
SSL 3-band equalizer:
The equalizer on each track in the BiG SiX has its roots in SSL's classic E-series, matching EQ curves according to goodness (Q). It's a three-band design with a wide goodness range, with Hi and Low field filters at 3.5 kHz and 60 Hz, adjustable from +15 dB to -15 dB of gain, and fixed mid-frequency control at 700 Hz. The HF and LF bands are independently switchable between shelf and bell curves, and can be found on each channel of the BiG SiX mixer.
