SSL E-series 611 Dynamic Module 500.
SSL E-Series 500 format compressor module aims to replicate the legendary sound signature of the classic console Solid State Logic 1980s. This, of course, refers to the famous 4000E model, with the use of which countless world hits were mixed. The SSL E-Series Dynamics Module 500 features 2 independent circuits: a compressor/limiter and an expander/gate. Both circuits replicate with the utmost care the components that ultimately made up the sound of the original 4000E console channel - the SL611E series.
SSL 611 Dyn Compressor
This model uses a True-RMS detector. On the other hand, a circuit constructed entirely on discrete elements is responsible for gain reduction. This circuit is identical to the VCA chip used in the original channel. What's more, the compressor has an additional option for switching off the characteristics of the Over-Easy and switching to linear time mode Release in exchange for the usual logarithmic system. The result of these procedures is a compressor with three different sounds. Each has its own beautiful and, most importantly, unique musical character.
