Clear-Com Encore SB-704 four-channel intercom switchboard
Clear-Com Encore® is an analog 2-wire partyline system with intuitive plug-and-play design and superior "Clear-Com Sound" sound quality.
SB-704 is a 2RU four-channel intercom switcher with programmable buttons on the front panel. It features short-circuit protection and volume control on individual channels. It also features an intercom matrix and adjustable emergency power supply. The SB-704 supports up to 55 beltpacks or 10 speaker stations, or 12 headphone stations. A built-in 10 x 4 matrix allows up to 10 different station groups to be assigned to any of the four channels.
Audio sources and monitoring
The SB-704 accepts five separate line-level program audio sources: four symmetrical inputs and one programmable input. This input accepts a symmetrical signal and is designed for monitoring an external audio source. The four symmetrical program inputs can be used to create individual program channels on intercom channels. The SB-704 can monitor intercom activity on one or all four channels with individual volume controls. Monitoring of intercom activity is possible through a headset.
Talk Section
The SB-704 has microphone preamplifiers with limiters and speech shaping circuits. An individual electronic Talk button operating in momentary/latch mode is available for each channel. The dual-action LED-illuminated Talk buttons glow softly when operating in latch mode: blue indicates standby, amber that latch is active. The latch function can be turned off. Channels can be accessed separately or simultaneously without being linked together. The station has a dedicated switch to select between headset and microphone. Talk buttons can also be controlled with a foot switch.
Announce output
The SB-704"s symmetrical, linear Stage Announce signal is realized via a 1/4" TRS jack on the rear panel. The Announce button on the front panel activates the Announce output and relay. The relay circuit, on a separate 1/4" TRS connector, is typically used to mute monitors.
Call signaling
The SB-704 has individual Call buttons with visual call signaling for each partline channel. The visual signal will flash brightly and beep if the remote station operator holds down the Call button for more than 2 seconds. The call signaling function can be programmed on the Talk buttons.
Remote Mic Kill (RMK)
The SB-704 features a global Remote Mic Kill button. It disables the active Talk function on all beltpacks in the system, eliminating unwanted noise from active headphones.
Programmatic input and IFB
The SB-704 has a symmetrical microphone- or line-level program signal for monitoring with a headset and/or mixing it with intercom audio on one or both channels. When Interrupt is selected, the program signal is muted when the Talk button is pressed.
Configuration panel
The SB-704 has a removable front panel for easy access to the station's configuration switches and potentiometers. Clearly labeled and easy-to-adjust controls allow you to quickly set up the SB-704. Once setup is complete, the front panel can be reattached so that only the necessary controls are visible.
Power supply
The SB-704 has a visual indication of power status. In the event of a short circuit or current overload on one of the channels, that channel will shut down while the other continues to operate. As soon as the fault condition is cleared, an auto-reset circuit will restore power to that channel, even at full load.
