SSL Virtual Console
The SSL 360° Plug-In Mixer provides an integrated platform for managing and controlling 360°-compatible plug-ins. The mixer can be accessed through SSL 360° software, available for free, even without plug-in hardware.

How does it work?

When you add a 360°-supported channel to a DAW session, it is automatically attached to the Pluig-in Mixer. The same happens with Bus Compressor and SSL Meter. When you remove these plug-ins from your session, they are automatically removed from the Plug-in Mixer as well.

If you want to create a truly physical console, you can use a UC1, UF1 or UF8 controller and control the Plug-in Mixer directly with it.

UF8, UF1 and UC1
Physical control of DAW programs and Plug-in Mixer

With a rich heritage in building the world's best analog and digital audio consoles, Solid State Logic knows all about their design and ergonomics. Drawing on this experience, SSL has created the UF8, UF1 and UC1 control surfaces specifically to support muscle memory, while physically connecting the user to the music he or she is creating. These controllers, working with SSL 360°, guarantee the quality your studio deserves.

UF8

Enhanced creativity, intelligent manufacturing

The UF8 is a state-of-the-art studio controller that creates a scalable control surface of up to 32 channels, packed with unique features designed for today's DAW-based music production and ultra-fast turnaround. Take control of your creativity and accelerate song composition, audio production and content creation with UF8.

UF1

DAW control center

The UF1 is the ultimate single attenuator controller for anyone who wants comprehensive control over a DAW program. It gives you full control of pan, sends, plug-ins, and also offers the ability to customize the 46 function keys to suit your individual working style. What really sets the UF1 apart is its deep integration with the SSL Meter plug-in, which is visualized on an amazing 4.3-inch IPS display. The UF1 can be used on its own or in conjunction with the UC1 and UF8, providing a feel that is the same as operating an SSL console.

UC1

Production speed, processing control and creative flexibility

The UC1 is a plug-in hardware controller unlike any other. Dedicated knobs in the EQ and dynamics sections, a center section with full Bus Compressor control and an authentic, pointer-based gain reduction meter combine to create the most creative, intuitive and effective tool for controlling 360°-compatible channel track and Bus Compressor plug-ins in a DAW session.

Transport control

Control your session using the DAW transport handling section at the top of the Plug-in Mixer, or directly from the UF8/UF1/UC1.

The power of three

With the Plug-in Mixer and UF8/UF1, you can operate 3 different DAW programs simultaneously, easily switching between them.

Comprehensive control

You can control the Plug-in Mixer from UC1, UF8 and UF1 (by assigning UF8 and UF1 in SSL 360° software to „Plug-In Mixer”) as if you were using a real console.

4K E

The 4K E plug-in is a software emulation of the 4000E console's channel track, authentically recreating the sound, processing and operating system of one of the most revered and recognized music production tools in history. Introduced in 1979, the 4000E console played a key role in changing the approach to music production. Its powerful, robust sound, advanced signal processing tools and groundbreaking flexibility quickly made it the tool of choice for the world's top recording studios. The 4000E console dominated the studio landscape of the 1980s and 1990s, becoming the sonic signature of some of the most iconic albums and tracks of the era, and many producers and recording engineers believe the console had a decisive impact on the evolution of „modern” production techniques and the sound of contemporary music.

4K B

4K B: Full of sound, expression and rich non-linear analog character, the 4K B plug-in is a detailed emulation of the legendary channel track of the SL 4000 B console. The SL 4000 B's iconic sound is synonymous with recordings made at London's famous Townhouse Studio 2, the „Stone Room,” in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

SSL 360° Link

SSL 360 Link brings a new level of power and flexibility to the SSL hybrid workflow. It enables easy control of any third-party plug-in using UC1 hardware. UC1 draws on decades of console design experience to provide a control surface for a plug-in with a knob for function, and now with SSL 360 Link you can control an unlimited range of sonic flavors, giving you even more creative options when producing and mixing music.

Delivered via a streamlined user interface and designed with intuitive setup features, SSL 360 Link allows you to quickly start dropping third-party plug-ins into your session and control them with the advanced "console" workflow that UC1 offers. Any third-party plug-ins mapped via 360 Link become visible in the plug-in mixer (also controlled from UF1 and UF8) along with 4K E, 4K B and CS2, further integrating them into SSL's virtual console workflow.

SSL Meter

An indispensable set of measurement tools, designed with care to meet the challenges of audio processing, ensure sonic consistency and allow you to prepare impressive mixes. Integration of UF8 and UF1 into the DAW

The UF8 and UF1 controllers work with all major DAW programs and come with templates for Ableton®Live™, Cubase™/Nuendo™, Pro Tools®, Logic Pro®, Studio One®, LUNA™, Pyramix™ Mixbus™ and REAPER™. The UF8 and UF1 also have the ability to control the SSL 360° Plug-in Mixer Layer. Many producers and recording engineers use various DAW programs in their work. The UF8 and UF1 are extremely flexible and comply with SSL's Open DAW policy - control 3 different DAW programs at the same time, keeping the production and mixing process efficient.

MIDI CC

The UF8 and UF1 provide a configurable MIDI CC layer for controlling synthesizers, sample libraries and external processing devices such as modular synthesizers or reverbs.

UC1/Plug-in Mixer integration

The following table details the integration of SSL 360°-compatible channel tracks with DAW and Plug-in Mixer software, controlled via UC1/SSL 360°.

Full control with SSL 360°

SSL 360° supports the SSL 12 software mixer, where you can configure low-latency headphone mixes, select a Loopback source, and customize user-assignable buttons on the SSL 12's front panel using the powerful but intuitive on-screen mixer.

Easily configure headphone mixes with near-zero latency

The SSL 12 provides an intuitive, virtual console-like mixer for setting up headphone mixes. With independent pan, level and mute controls available for each send, you have full control over the SSL 12 mixer.

Configure HP A and HP B outputs to suit your needs

Choose one of 3 different headphone output modes that best suits your headphones - Standard, High Sensitivity or High Impedance. If you need additional line outputs from the SSL 12, you can change the function of the HP outputs to symmetrical/unsymmetrical mono outputs.

Customize the three user buttons on the front panel

The three switches on the front panel are pre-assigned to the CUT function for the monitors, their ALT switching, and TALKBACK microphone on/off. However, you can, depending on your needs, change the functions of these buttons to a selection of the following - DIM, CUT, MONO SUM, ALT, INVERSE PHASE LEFT, TALKBACK.
