The SSL 12 is a 12-input/8-output USB-powered audio interface that allows you to transfer studio-quality audio to and from your computer effectively maximizing the creator's creativity. Building on the success of the SSL 2 and SSL 2+, the SSL 12 offers even more. More inputs/outputs, more performance and more versatility. The SSL 12 is fully integrated with SSL 360° software: your SSL Control Room. Here you can assign channels for monitor output, create multiple independent headphone mixes, select a Loopback source, customize 3 front panel user buttons and much more. With SSL 12, you can bring the way you work from the biggest recording studios to your home studio with a compact interface.

Class-leading microphone amplifiers

4 highly detailed microphone preamps that capture every nuance of the recorded parts. They offer fully sufficient gain to handle the most demanding source. Our two-stage design uses a blend of specially selected low-noise discrete transistors combined with integrated circuits, resulting in exceptionally quiet operation (-130 dBu EIN) and excellent gain range (62 dB).

Maximum output voltage +24 dBu

Unlike many USB-powered audio interfaces, the SSL 12's balanced line inputs and outputs operate up to +24 dBu, allowing seamless integration with your favorite external analog equipment and line devices.

With 32-bit converter processing, impeccable stereophony, and symmetrical outputs that provide more than 120 dB of dynamic range, the SSL 12 delivers uncompromising monitor section performance ideally suited for high-end studios.

During mixing, seamless switching of the listening monitors and individually configurable front panel button functions put everything you need at your fingertips.

PRODUCTION

When producing you'll appreciate the USB Loopback function, MIDI I/O and voltage-controlled outputs that allow you to control instruments and effects. They provide a serious set of tools so you can focus on creating and not the technicalities. Total control with SSL 360° - Your SSL Control Room

The SSL 360° supports the SSL 12 software mixer, where you can set up low-latency headphone mixes, select a Loopback source, and customize user-assignable front-panel buttons with a powerful but intuitive console-style on-screen mixer.

Easily set up multiple headphone mixes with near-zero latency

The SSL 12 provides an intuitive, console-style virtual mixer for creating listening mixes. With independent pan, level and mute controls available for each send, the SSL 12 Mixer gives you complete control.

Configure the HP A and HP B outputs as you need them

Choose from 3 different headphone output modes that best suit your headphones - standard, high sensitivity or high impedance. You can also reassign each HP output to a symmetrical/non-symmetrical mono output if you need additional line outputs from the SSL 12.

Customize the 3 front panel buttons that can be assigned to the user

The 3 switches on the front panel are factory assigned to CUT for monitors, ALT speaker switching and TALKBACK microphone on/off, but you can select these buttons to customize them for any of the following functions as needed - DIM, CUT, MONO SUM, ALT, INWERT PHASE LEFT, TALKBACK.

Legacy 4K

Analog character inspired by the SSL 4000 console

The Legacy 4K button is a musical boost of high frequencies along with a controlled amount of finely tuned harmonic distortion. It works perfectly when you want to add character and precision to vocals and instruments.

Inputs and outputs

Front-mounted jack sockets provide convenient access to 2 instrument DI inputs and 2 independent headphone outputs.

On the back of the SSL 12 are Neutrik® XLR Combo jacks for Mic/Line inputs, TRS jack outputs for 2 sets of speakers, 5-pin DIN MIDI I/O, 8 channels of digital audio inputs via ADAT, a USB connector and an on/off switch.
