SSL BUS+

When thinking about a single analog device that shapes the sound—and is synonymous with SSL—only one name comes to mind: – Bus Compressor. From its first version, implemented in the SSL 4000B analog mixing console in 1976, to the present day, it has served as the foundation of the central section of Solid State Logic’s flagship studio mixing consoles.

BUS+

Solid State Logic has decided to create the most versatile version of its iconic Bus Compressor to date. The foundation of this project is staying true to the original unit while adding new tone-shaping features and advanced sound-design tools. New BUS+ It can be powerful and clear, like the version found in the 9000 Series consoles, or more rich and grainy, like its original version from the 4000 Series consoles. The new compressor can also operate in parallel compression mode and add color to the sound.

The BUS+ circuit design utilizes high-quality components, such as the THAT 2181 VCA in the audio path, which ensure excellent analog performance. The compressor is also extremely versatile, offering four operating modes and three different compression character options. This allows the new BUS+ to adapt to whatever music genre you’re currently working on. As if that weren’t enough, THE BUS+ offers a brand-new Dynamic Equalizer, Transient Expander, and versatile routing options.

THE BUS+ is the best SSL bus compressor.

Key features:

• Authentic SSL Bus Compressor circuit featuring a high-performance 2181 THAT VCA.

• 4 operating modes – Classic Stereo, S/C Stereo, Dual Mono, or Mid-Side.

• New Attack and Release time options—greater flexibility in shaping the compressor, including a new „Auto 2” setting.

• 3 different compression coloring options that can be combined or used individually:

– 4K Mode – a single VCA operation with variable harmonic distortion,

– LOW THD mode reduces low-frequency distortion caused by compression,

– F/B mode changes the compression characteristics to produce a more „relaxed” compression style.

• Exceptional sound quality and step potentiometers designed for mastering applications.

• Built-in 2-band dynamic equalizer (D-EQ).

• Expander.

• Customizable processing order — Bus Compressor before the D-EQ (default) or after it.

• Inputs and outputs for Side-Chain.

• Variable high-pass filter control for the side-chain up to 300 Hz in 10-Hz increments.

• Mix control for parallel compression.
