DirectOut unveils USB.IO audio interface module

In cooperation with RME, DirectOut has introduced USB.IO. It is a USB audio interface module dedicated to the Prodigy and MAVEN platforms.

The first fruit of DirectOut's collaboration with RME was the Digiface RAVENNA. Now DirectOut is adding USB.IO, a USB audio interface module to its platforms MAVEN i PRODIGY. Based on RME's USB 3.0 core and using their renowned low-latency technology, USB.IO benefits from high-performance Windows and Mac drivers with unmatched stability.

The new version of the USB-C interface provides an impressive 128 channels of I/O at standard sample rates (1FS) from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz. This makes it easier to integrate DirectOut converters and multi-function processors into computer-based production systems, on the road and in the studio.

A not inconsiderable feature that comes with RME controllers is RME's renowned TotalMix FX software. TotalMix FX offers a wide range of mixing and routing options. From 128 separate submixes through internal Loopback routing to intuitive control of mixer and matrix views and controls, TotalMix FX enables flexible and versatile handling of available recording and playback channels, providing users with a one-stop solution for connecting to an external computer.

In addition to advanced driver support for Windows (ASIO, WDM) and macOS (Kernel Extension and DriverKit Core Audio), the new interface boasts a USB 3 Class-Compliant mode that transmits all 128 channels for recording and playback.

This feature allows the module to operate without drivers, making it instantly compatible with iPads and other mobile devices.

Of course, the card comes with support EARS™, DirectOut's patented Enhanced Automatic Redundancy Switching technology. EARS ensures continuous audio playback by automatically switching to a backup source in the event of signal loss, providing an extra layer of reliability during live performances and broadcasts.
