Harrison Audio has added the 500 Series to its lineup, making high-end production tools and legendary console technology available to a wider audience.

Harrison Audio The 500 Series is a legendary line of equipment in a format ideal for the studios of artists, producers, and engineers. For over half a century, Harrison Audio has been known for its distinctive circuit designs and exceptional sound quality. The new modules include the 32Cpre+ microphone preamp, the MR3eq 3-band parametric equalizer, and the Comp compressor.

Each of the new modules incorporates key elements of the high-performance Harrison studio consoles from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Harrison consoles helped create some of the most iconic songs in history, by artists such as Michael Jackson, ABBA, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Donald Fagan, and many others. Harrison’s new 500 Series module lineup incorporates the sound and features trusted by engineers such as Bruce Swedien, Roger Nichols, Reinhold Mack, and others to create music that stands the test of time.

32Cpre+

New 32Cpre+ uses a high-gain, transformer-coupled microphone preamp from the new Harrison studio console 32Classic and combines it with the famous Harrison LP/HP filters—all in a single 500-series unit. Inspired by the iconic Harrison 3232, the 32Classic mixing console and preamp is an American icon reimagined, delivering the same sound that helped create iconic albums such as „Thriller,” „In Through the Out Door,” and „The Nightfly.”.

In terms of sound, the 32Cpre+ delivers the warm, rich tone for which Harrison is famous. Full bass, an open midrange, and super-smooth, natural highs are exactly what you’d expect from this Jensen JT-MB-CPCA transformer-coupled microphone preamp. The 32Cpre+ provides smooth gain from +20 to +70 dB and is capable of handling a wide range of microphone types—including ribbon microphones. Additionally, the front panel features 180° phase, 48V, a -20 pad, HiZ impedance switches, and an XLR combo input with a ¼-inch jack.

MR3eq

MR3eq This is an analog equalizer based on decades of experience in designing equalizers and filters. Originally developed for the Harrison MR3 console, the MR3eq stands out as one of Harrison’s most popular EQ designs.

The MR3eq is a powerful three-band parametric equalizer with 6 dB/octave filters that can be switched to a second-order Bell filter featuring Harrison’s famous proportional Q. The midband offers a continuously variable Q, while the separate high-pass filter section features a characteristic 3 dB resonance peak. The MR3eq’s flexible design and powerful shaping capabilities make it a versatile tool that enhances a wide range of source material, proving equally effective in both tracking and mixing scenarios.

Comp

Comp 500 Series Module It is based on a classic „feed-forward” design that utilizes the THAT 2180 VCA circuit, delivering exceptional analog performance. The compressor’s attack is program-dependent and constantly adapts to the input signal, while the release is continuously adjustable. These parameters mean that the Comp module can function as a transparent leveler, a highly saturated “vibe” compressor, or anything in between—adding character and emotion to a wide range of sources.
